Our Neighbour Miss Yae

This domestic drama set in a middle-class Tokyo neighborhood helped define the "Kamata style" with an emphasis on daily life, naturalistic performances, and the emotional lives of women. Yaeko is the "girl next door," a typical teenager who considers her neighbour Keitaro, a university student, almost like a brother. But when Yaeko's older sister Kyoko leaves her husband and returns home, she begins to pursue Keitaro, much to Yaeko's confusion.
